Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has allowed the Taiwanese Hung
Nghiep Formosa Co. Ltd. (Formosa) to import coal for electricity
production at its thermal power plant in Dong Nai Province.
The Ministry of Finance has transferred VND3 trillion (US$134 million)
to four coastal central provinces of Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri and
Thua Thien Hue where fish died en mass due to environmental pollution in
April.
Chairman of the Government Office Mai Tien Dung yesterday announced that
the Taiwanese Hung Nghiep Formosa Ha Tinh Steel Corporation was
responsible for the massive fish deaths in several central Vietnamese
provinces in the past few months.
